Introduced on Amazon at the end of last September, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X had an MSRP of US$699 at launch. Still listed by AMD with this price (and out of stock after a recent US$100 discount), this processor is now down from US$799 to US$585.99 on Amazon thanks to a 27% discount.
The 16-core, 32-thread AMD Ryzen 9 7950X processor has been around since the end of September 2022 and, according to Camelcamelcamel, its price topped at US$751.28 in early October and reached an all-time low value of US$549.99 at the end of November. Now, this power-hungry piece of silicon with a 170 W TDP (when running at the default speeds of 4.5/5.7 GHz) is down by 27% on Amazon, where it has a list price of US$799. Thanks to this discount, those interested can acquire the Ryzen 9 7950X for US$585.99.
When used with certain 600 Series motherboards, this processor supports PCIe 5.0. Due to its high TDP and the fact that it comes unlocked, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X comes without a cooler. Unsurprisingly, to take full advantage of its overclocking potential, but also to ensure the best reliability and stability when used at stock speeds, this processor needs to be paired with a high-performance liquid cooling solution.
Those interested in a bundle can grab this discounted chip with the GIGABYTE X670 AORUS Elite AX motherboard, which is currently available on Amazon at 6% off. The discount of the bundle is 21%, so the price of these two items will go from a US$1,088.99 list price to US$858.82 (US$230.17 savings).
While the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is a better choice for virtually any use scenario, the 120 W TDP sibling of the Ryzen 9 7950X is not discounted and has a list price of US$699.

In my early school days, I hated writing and having to make up stories. A decade later, I started to enjoy it. Since then, I published a few offline articles and then I moved to the online space, where I contributed to major websites that are still present online as of 2021 such as Softpedia, Brothersoft, Download3000, but I also wrote for multiple blogs that have disappeared over the years. I’ve been riding with the Notebookcheck crew since 2013 and I am not planning to leave it anytime soon. In love with good mechanical keyboards, vinyl and tape sound, but also smartphones, streaming services, and digital art.
